One “Total Opening” Story

Plitek L.L.C. is an Anderson Lock customer that wanted an access control system for 11 doors. They also needed to upgrade hardware, and completely replace four exterior doors and frames. This leading-edge-technology manufacturing company, located in Des Plaines, IL, makes “Smart Labels” which integrate Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) circuitry into a variety of products.

John Didier, an Anderson Lock estimator, planned the job to seamlessly integrate the card readers with the new doors and hardware, which were installed by our technicians, Sandy Milovancevic, Aaron Parson and Tom Cleveland. The proximity card readers utilize “smart card” technology similar to that which Plitek laminates into its products. Wires for card readers were pulled into place before door frames were secured, and electric strikes, door closers and exit hardware were installed along with new steel doors.

Next, Jeff Parcell, our electronics expert, connected card readers to controllers he had mounted in Plitek’s computer room, then he trained Plitek personnel on software he’d installed. Within days, Anderson Lock’s high-tech total security solution was opening new doors at Plitek’s high-tech workplace.

Plitek’s plant manager, Joe Weber, said the security system is working well in the plant and office areas and noted that the entire job was done in a professional manner, with little or no interruption to their staff.  He said, “The system has been in place for a few weeks and is performing as we expect. Our staff was able to adjust to this system immediately and with minimal training. Thanks to the people at Anderson Lock for a job well done!”
