Sherman Health’s new 255-bed, 645,000-square-foot hospital, at Randall and Big Timber roads in Elgin, opened its doors in December, 2009.
Mike Parsons, Sherman’s Lead Mechanic for their Engineering Department, recommended Anderson Lock to work with Walsh Construction. He says, “You guys really stepped up and have been awesome!”
Hundreds of ASSA ABLOY ReadySet® integrated door systems have been supplied by Anderson Lock. “Semi- after semi- has been coming in,” Mike says, “half your staff has been involved, everyone has been so helpful and I haven’t had any issues with your company.”
Sam Sannasardo serves as Project Manager for the new hospital. He received a bundle of blueprints after the initial order had been placed with a company that wasn’t able to fulfill the contract. Sherman Hospital chose Anderson Lock because they wanted a single source for doors, frames and security door hardware--and because they value a business partner that understands the importance of meeting deadlines.
Rose Umana, Randy Leonard and Jim Walsh have worked with Mike, who is now a certified locksmith, for several years. The existing hospital will be re-developed for outpatient and immediate care services after the December move.
In 2006, ground was broken for the replacement hospital by Walsh Construction, general contractor. There are over 3,000 openings, with approximately 1,800 locking doors.
Sargent locks were pre-installed with temporary cores. Mike is currently setting up Key Wizard software to maintain the huge master key system. He says Jim was “a great big help” with the keying schedule.
Mike says the December 15th move is fully planned “with several ambulance companies lined up.” Before then, over 1,800 Sargent keyed cores will be installed by Mike and his staff.
All ReadySet® components come from industry-leading brands and are prefinished, assembled, and tested before being shipped to the jobsite. Installations are fast and accurate, and they follow painting, flooring and other finish work. ReadySet® systems are ideal for facilities like Sherman Hospital with hundreds of repeatable doorways.
