Don’t You Forget About Us: Anderson Lock in The Breakfast Club at 40 (and 65) Years Strong!

This September, The Breakfast Club will return to theaters for two special showings on Sunday, September 7, 2025, and Wednesday, September 10, 2025, celebrating its 40th anniversary.

The classic John Hughes film, often called the ultimate coming-of-age story, continues to resonate with new generations while bringing back fond memories for those who first watched it in 1985.

But did you know Anderson Lock has its own connection to this iconic movie?

Filmed in Des Plaines, Illinois

Much of The Breakfast Club was filmed at Maine North High School in Des Plaines, Illinois, just minutes away from Anderson Lock headquarters. The school’s gymnasium was transformed into the famous library set, while its hallways and exterior provided the backdrop for the students’ day in detention. Today, the building is home to the Illinois State Police.

Anderson Lock Hardware on the Big Screen

While audiences focused on the unforgettable performances and life lessons, Anderson Lock’s security hardware also made its way into the film. The door hardware used in the movie was supplied by Anderson Lock, adding an authentic touch to the high school setting.
This wasn’t the company’s only Hollywood moment, our locks and door hardware have appeared in other films over the decades, including My Bodyguard (1980) and several others shot in the Chicago area.

Celebrating 40 Years of a Classic

Just as The Breakfast Club has stood the test of time, Anderson Lock has built a legacy of trust, reliability, and craftsmanship since 1960.

We’re proud of our Chicagoland roots and our small part in movie history, and we look forward to seeing this timeless film return to the big screen.

So, when you revisit The Breakfast Club this fall, don’t you forget about Anderson Lock! Keep an eye on the details, you might just spot a piece of ALC history in the background!
