CORTNEY WASCHER SERVED AS 2023-2024 PRESIDENT OF THE DOOR AND HARDWARE INSTITUTE
With 25 Years of Door Security & Life Safety Experience, Wascher was Poised to Lead this International Organization
Cortney Anderson Wascher, Owner / President of Anderson Lock Company, was elected the 2023-2024 president of the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI), the association serving door security and safety professionals in the United States and Canada, in the non-residential construction industry.
In 1998, Wascher joined the commercial, industrial and institutional locksmith company her father had founded. She was named president in 2006, then became majority owner in 2009. Under her leadership, Anderson Lock expanded its security solutions to include doors / frames, electronic access controls, and contractor supply. It is now the leading source of architectural openings, sales and service, in Chicagoland.
Wascher points out that DHI serves the life safety and security industry by focusing on its commitment to educate, advocate, innovate, and facilitate strategic paths forward. Developing an understanding of codes and standards is essential for specifiers, suppliers, installers, and anyone who maintains doors, frames and hardware.
She further notes that demands are high for electronic solutions. Commercial lock manufacturers continue to transform classroom security locks from key operated mechanical locks to complex, networked electronic locking systems that can be locked down from a central location, due to all-too-common school shootings. Because of changes like this in the industry, DHI recognizes the need for increased technical training, and offers a robust variety of online and in-person educational courses.
