At age 17, Brenda Asta joined Anderson Lock through the High School Work Program. After graduation from Maine West, she became Employee #17. But when Gene Anderson told her she would get 3 weeks’ vacation after 7 years, she laughed and replied she “couldn’t imagine working at the same job for 7 years!”
However, Brenda recently returned from a vacation in Colorado, gifted in part by Anderson Lock, in appreciation and recognition of her 40 Year Work Anniversary. Brenda took her mother and brother to a Cubs vs. Rockies baseball game at Coors Field, and they traveled to Vail, Colorado Springs, and other places in the Rocky Mountains.
Anderson Lock grew from 10 employees when Brenda began, to 100, including her son Jeff and daughter Jenna, today. She notes that Gene’s vision for the company expanded it from a local locksmith service provider to a national distributor of commercial hardware through the publication of catalogs, and the expansion of our service area. Gene’s daughter Cortney, who is now owner and president, led further expansion of products and services with the addition of electronic lock and access control capabilities, as well as our immense Door Division in Elk Grove.
For four decades Brenda’s friendly care for customers has sparkled through phone calls, while her organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic have made her a valuable, well-respected member of our Main Office staff. Brenda is married to Joe, and they have another son, Justin.
