In 1979, Anderson Lock’s founder, Gene Anderson, brought Dave Grothe on board. Now, Anderson Lock bids farewell to a true cornerstone of our team, Dave Grothe, who retired at the end of March after 45 years of dedicated service.
Dave has long been known as a hardworking and reliable estimator, leading by example and demonstrating an unparalleled knowledge of hardware and its proper applications. His expertise played a pivotal role in introducing total opening solutions to our company, particularly through his work with Special-Lite doors and frames. Before our first door division was established at 2420 Oakton, Dave was already special-ordering these solutions for churches and other facilities, setting a strong foundation for future growth.
His technical proficiency, honed through DHI classes, manufacturer trainings, and independent research, instilled confidence in those who worked alongside him. Additionally, Dave’s dedication extended far beyond the job site. A true team player, he consistently went above and beyond—perhaps most notably in 1986, when he used his own boat to help during a flood, ensuring people were safely transported and performed service work at the flooded Forest Hospital.
Dave’s departure leaves big shoes to fill, but his legacy of expertise, reliability, and selflessness will continue to inspire.
Gene’s daughter, Cortney Anderson Wascher, President since 2007, thanks Dave for 45 years of his extraordinary contributions and wishes him the very best in his well-earned retirement.
