In November, 2016, Stella Brown, a Chicago P.D. set designer, contacted our Hardware Sales Representative, John Comastro, and asked about the possibility of renting a key machine for a week. She also wanted to purchase 500 key blanks, asking for ten different automotive types, with one cut key from each type.

Sales Manager Jim Walsh demonstrated “How To Cut Keys on a Semi-Automatic Key Machine” to the TV folks who drove to Des Plaines to pick-up the duplicator. Rent was set at $400, but replacement cost would have been $4,000 if the machine had not been returned, without damage, at the end of the week.

Episode 9 aired in early January, and is available online.
