This program for reporting crimes via text messaging is sponsored locally by the Park Ridge and Des Plaines Police and the Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation.

It has already produced tips and leads for crimes that are being investigated. Teens in particular are more comfortable texting than making a phone call, and they like this program because the tips are anonymous.

Anderson Lock’s Jeff Parcell is a member of the Crimestoppers organization that is also supporting this program.
