Overview
The Bank sought to enhance the accessibility and security of its facility by upgrading the automatic door systems at both its interior south and north vestibule entrances. The bank required seamless integration between the new door operators and the existing access control systems, while also ensuring that the aesthetic of the building was preserved. Anderson Lock was tasked with executing the upgrades and delivering a smooth, secure, and user-friendly solution.
Project Scope
South Vestibule Entrance:
• Removed the existing door closer arm assembly to disable the overhead concealed door closer.
• Installed a new single door automatic operator in a clear aluminum finish.
• Mounted an outbound jamb actuator for hands-free operation.
• Successfully interfaced the existing inbound card reader with the new operator, preserving access control integrity.
North Vestibule Entrance:
• Removed the outdated door closer from the active door.
• Installed a new Record automatic door operator in clear aluminum, ensuring consistency across both entrances.
• Integrated a First-Choice motorized latch retraction CVR and accompanying door cord and drop plates for enhanced functionality.
• Linked the existing inbound card reader to the new system, maintaining the bank’s security protocols.
Challenges:
Integration with Existing Security Systems: The existing card reader systems needed to be fully compatible with the new automatic door operators. This required precise interfacing to ensure that the upgraded doors worked seamlessly with the inbound card readers, providing secure, hands-free access for employees and authorized personnel.
Aesthetic Requirements: The Bank emphasized the importance of maintaining the building’s clean, modern aesthetic. Anderson Lock selected a clear aluminum finish for the automatic door operators, which blended well with the existing doors and preserved the visual appeal of the bank’s entrances.
Logistical Constraints: Both vestibule entrances remained operational during business hours, requiring Anderson Lock to work efficiently and minimize disruption. The technicians were able to complete the installations and integrations without causing any significant downtime for the bank’s daily operations.
Results:
Enhanced Accessibility and Security: The upgrades to the vestibule entrances have greatly improved accessibility for customers and staff, especially those with mobility challenges. The integration with the card readers ensured that the bank’s security was not compromised, while allowing for easier, automated access.
Improved Customer Experience: The new automatic door systems provide a smooth and convenient entry for visitors, enhancing the overall customer experience. The seamless integration of the outbound actuators and card readers has created a frictionless entry process, reducing bottlenecks during busy periods.
Aesthetic Consistency: By carefully selecting materials and finishes, Anderson Lock was able to maintain the sleek, professional appearance of the bank’s vestibules while modernizing their functionality.
Conclusion:
Anderson Lock successfully met the Bank’s objectives by providing a secure, accessible, and visually appealing solution for their vestibule entrances. The project demonstrated Anderson Lock’s expertise in door automation, ADA compliance, and access control, as well as the team’s ability to work efficiently with minimal disruption to the client’s operations.
This case highlights the importance of seamless integration between existing security infrastructure and new automation technologies, showcasing Anderson Lock’s ability to deliver high-quality, customized solutions.
