Overview

Rush Medical College opened in 1843. Known now as Rush University Medical Center, it includes colleges of medicine, nursing, health sciences and research.

When multi-building institutions seek to install a campus-wide security system, especially one that includes electronic locks and card readers, as well as mechanical locks and cut keys, they turn to Anderson Lock.

Contract or wholesale hardware companies cannot match our knowledge of, or proficiency with, the nuances involved with Master Key Systems. We are a Schlage-designated Key Center, and, since 1960, our core competency has been designing and installing Master Key Systems.

Because of the sheer size of RUSH project (there are 22 buildings) and because there are multiple new construction projects being coordinated at the same time, the installation of the new system has been ongoing since 2014. Jim Didier, an Anderson Lock estimator and master key expert, walked the floors of their Academic Building, and led keying meetings, as part of their on-going installation of a new Schlage restricted cylinder rekeying project.

We create, install, and continue to maintain Master Key Systems for hundreds of multi-level, multi-building, high-security campuses throughout the Chicago region. We have learned from this extensive experience that there may be unforeseen keying complications, as well as issues with doors, frames and related door hardware, requiring repair or replacement, to assure that new cylinders, installed in existing locks, function properly.
