SCS is a leading third-party provider of certification, auditing and testing services, and is a leading provider of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) chain-of-custody certification. FSC promotes responsible management of the world’s forests through the development of voluntary, internationally recognized forest management standards and the most widely recognized forest certification program, globally.
The FSC certification program supports biodiversity, protection and conversation of forests, ensures long term timber supplies, protects stream sides, while assuring consideration of long term human benefits, provides for stakeholder input, and ensures long-term timber supplies.
The FSC requires that all manufacturers, distributors, and retailers who purchase and sell FSC certified wood, and who wish to make a claim about the certified status of their product, undergo chain-of-custody certification by an accredited third party. For products used in the building industry, this certification is also necessary to earn USGBC LEED MR Credit 7.
FSC chain of custody tracks FSC certified material through the production process – from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.
Only FSC CoC certified operations are allowed to label products with the FSC trademarks. Anderson Lock’s Door Division is FSC CoC certified.
